With consent and support from DJ AM’s family, MTV will be airing an eight-episode documentary series ‘Gone Too Far’ beginning Monday, Oct. 12.

DJ AM knew all too well about the daily struggle of drug addiction. The late celebrity spinner (born Adam Goldstein), who died of an accidental drug overdose in August at age 36, spent his last few months filming an MTV series called “Gone Too Far,” in which he spoke candidly about his own addiction, his 11 years of sobriety and his desire to help other young addicts overcome their demons.  

Each episode features AM meeting with the addicts, their friends and families to discuss their willingness to change. The show was part of AM’s long struggle to overcome substance abuse, and it follows his mission to help as many people as he could, using interviews and self-shot video from the addicts and their friends and families that expose the severity of their addiction and its devastating impact on their lives.

Family, friends and close friend, Travis Barker, attended DJ AM’s funeral on Wednesday. A memorial will be held for DJ AM on Thursday as  well in Los Angeles. 36-year-old Adam Goldstein, aka DJ AM, died last week in New York. Leave your comments and thoughts.

Only a year after his near-fatal plane crash, Adam Goldstein, aka DJ AM, was found dead in his apartment after missing for days according to The Associated Press. Read below.

   NEW YORK  — DJ AM, the sought-after disc jockey who became a celebrity in his own right with high-profile romances and a glamorous lifestyle and survived a plane crash just months ago, was found dead Friday at his apartment. He had a history of drug problems.
   Police found a crack pipe and prescription pills in the Manhattan apartment, according to a law enforcement official, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing. Paramedics had to break down the door to the apartment before they found him, shirtless and wearing sweatpants, in his bed at about 5:20 p.m., the official said.
   A friend had called police to say he was unable to get into the home in the trendy SoHo neighborhood. There was no evidence of foul play, and a medical examiner will determine the DJ’s cause of death.
